Getting Started

It isn’t hard to get started programming in Java. First you need to download the Java compiler and libraries. Once you have those, it is feasible to write your programs in a text editor like notepad or wordpad. It is easiest to download whats called an Integrated Development Enviorment (IDE) like Eclipse or Netbeans. These programs are text editors with all the built in tools you need to write, compile, and run code. Some of my favorite tools are the built in debugging that underlines code with possible errors and the method suggestion tool. To download the latest Java IDE go to either the Eclipse or the Netbeans website and select the version you would like to download.
